Ringwood Approves Subscription Busing Service for Lakeland Regional High School Students
During the meeting, Ordinance Number 202607 was introduced, which amends Chapter 2 of the revised general ordinances to add provisions for a subscription busing service to and from Lakeland Regional High School. This service will operate on a subscription basis with a $300 annual fee per student. The ordinance aims to address the inefficiency and high cost of the previous courtesy busing system, which averaged only five students in the morning and 25 in the afternoon, costing approximately $138,000. The new system will provide one bus with a capacity of 58 students, requiring students to opt in. Provisions are made for students facing financial hardship, with the free and reduced lunch criteria from Lakeland High School being used as a parameter. Students with transportation written into their IEP will not be affected. The ordinance was passed on its second reading.
Ringwood Honors Volunteer First Responders and Youth Baseball Champions
The Borough of Ringwood celebrated its volunteer firefighters, EMS personnel, and the Ringwood Raptors 13U baseball team during its business meeting on July 21st, 2026. Ringwood to Consider New Stop Sign at Hilltop Road and Buena Vista Drive Intersection
Ordinance Number 202608 was introduced to amend Chapter 7, Traffic, Section 7-20, regarding stop intersections. The ordinance proposes creating a new stop intersection at Hilltop Road and Buena Vista Drive, with the stop sign to be placed on Hilltop Road. This change is recommended by the Ringwood Police Department and Mr. Juhas, following a request from residents concerned about the intersection's safety, as there are currently no traffic control signs. Stop bars and lettering will also be installed. A public hearing will be held on August 18th, 2026.
Ringwood Downtown Director Reports on Economic Development Initiatives and Highlands Funding Concerns
David Edwal, director and chairman of Ringwood Downtown, presented his independent assessment a year after the organization's inception. He noted growing interest in Ringwood from developers and businesses, attributing it to the strategic move of creating the Special Improvement District (SID) and Ringwood Downtown. Edwal highlighted ongoing initiatives like 'Music in the Woods' concert series, a community gift card program, and a successful 'Plant Bingo Night.' He announced plans for an Oktoberfest and a fundraising event on October 17th featuring an auction with donated items. Edwal also discussed survey results indicating residents want shopping district improvements and a farmer's market, which Ringwood Downtown plans to pilot in September. He emphasized the need for 'talent and treasure' (volunteers and funding) to support these initiatives. Edwal also addressed the impact of the Highlands Preservation Area, explaining that state-imposed restrictions on growth, coupled with the state's failure to provide promised funding, place a burden on local taxpayers. He urged residents to pressure state legislators for fair treatment and encouraged community unity to support local development and services.
Community members raise questions on grants, park development, and Azarian pilot program at Ringwood Council Meeting
During the public portion of the meeting, resident Robin Kennedy inquired about the Pase County Open Space Grant, clarifying that the approved $250,000 was for field lighting, not the entire turf field, and questioned the lack of movement on the accessible playground project approved last year. Ryan Didimer proposed the idea of an info kiosk in the park next to Fieldstone to promote local businesses and attract foot traffic. Teresa Struff raised concerns about the pilot program for Azarian, specifically questioning if the agreement would include guardrails to manage Azarian's behavior rather than focusing solely on property aesthetics, and whether the town was rewarding bad behavior. Borough Manager Scott Heck provided updates on the field lighting project, stating it's a longer-term endeavor, and that quotes for the handicapped playground are being obtained. Regarding the park name, Ringwood Downtown will host a contest to name the space next to Fieldstone. Borough Attorney Mark Semeraro addressed the Azarian pilot program concerns, explaining that the town cannot interject into landlord-tenant business relationships but can regulate behavior through the maintenance code, and he will look into additional safeguards. He also mentioned that the pilot would not commence before improvements are made and that the town can regulate the scope of work. Discussions also touched upon the possibility of amending ordinances to tighten maintenance standards.
