Animal Feeding Ordinance Focuses on Education, Chicken Regulations Updated, Wildlife Concerns Addressed
The meeting included discussions on ordinances, specifically the animal feeding ordinance, which aims to educate rather than penalize, with warnings issued before fines. Enforcement will be handled by the animal control officer, and complaints can remain anonymous. There were also discussions regarding chickens, limiting their numbers and prohibiting roosters, with case-by-case assessments for coops. Concerns were raised about deer feeding leading to increased deer presence and neighborly conflicts, and bear activity due to improper garbage disposal.
Willow Field Renovations Completed, Traffic and Signage Improvements Implemented
The Willow Field is now completely done, with new sprinklers and landscaping. Parking has been restricted along the fence line due to tree planting, and the road past the snack stand is closed to traffic to improve safety for children playing in the area. Future plans include potentially creating a U-turn within the property to manage traffic flow. Additionally, a new sign is planned for the Joe Grill and Willow Field complex to clarify locations for visitors, as the current Joe Grill sign can be misleading.

Hersfield Park Bridge and Willow Field Improvements Completed, Pathway Redesign Faces Challenges
The Hersfield Park bridge walkway is now complete and open to the public. Additionally, the lightning detector at Willow Field, connected to Riverdale Lake, has been installed as a donation from the Rotary. The fieldhouse at Hersfield is also completely finished, with the final stage of the project, redoing the pathways, planned for late spring or early summer next year. However, there are challenges with the Department of Public Works regarding the pathway material, as they do not permit a return to the original paved surface, requiring a fight to get approval for its removal.
