Internet Infrastructure to be Installed at Aurora Park at Geauga Lake
The committee authorized the purchase of internet infrastructure equipment for Aurora Park at Geauga Lake through LTEC Solutions. This equipment, including switches, access points, and accessories, is necessary to build out the server room once the park's structures are complete. LTEC Solutions, the IT vendor, secured the best pricing by combining distributor pricing and state bid pricing, totaling $83,525.92. An emergency declaration is requested to install the equipment promptly as structures are built.
Planning and Zoning Department to Acquire New Chevrolet Traverse
The committee approved the purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse for the Planning, Zoning, and Building Department. This vehicle will replace a 10-year-old truck that is no longer reliable and has functional issues like a non-working tailgate. The Traverse was found to be cheaper than a new truck. The cost is approximately $31,278 after a trade-in value of $10,500 for the old F-150. The new vehicle will be used by the zoning inspector and department staff for tasks such as picking up signs and conducting inspections.
City Codified Ordinances Updated
The council considered an ordinance on second reading approving and adopting current replacement pages for the city's codified ordinances, prepared by Walter H. Rain Company and verified by the clerk. An emergency was declared to update the code promptly. The ordinance was adopted.
Aurora Schools Propose 'Essential Plan' for Facility Upgrades
The Aurora School District presented its 'Essential Plan' for facility improvements, which focuses on core needs after a previous, more extensive master plan failed due to cost and scope concerns. The Essential Plan involves replacing Craddock School with a new elementary school on the same site, replacing the aging bus garage infrastructure, and maintaining existing buildings. The estimated cost for these necessary renovations is approximately $80 million, potentially rising to $90 million. Community forums are scheduled for April to gather feedback before the plan is presented to voters in November.
AgriSludge Contract Renewed for Wastewater Sludge Removal Services
The committee approved a contract with AgriSludge Incorporated for sludge removal services. The company has been utilized for many years and consistently offers the best price, handling all necessary permitting and disposal through the Ohio EPA. The proposed contract is for calendar year 2026, with options to renew for 2027 and 2028 at a 4% annual increase. The estimated cost for 2026 does not exceed $108,000. An emergency was declared to avoid disruption of services.
