Woodburn Celebrates Unity, Diversity, and Community Development Initiatives

The city of Woodburn is actively engaged in community development initiatives aimed at fostering belonging, celebrating diversity, and strengthening civic life. These efforts include supporting local businesses, particularly Latino-owned businesses, and enhancing public spaces. The American Dream series highlights immigrant entrepreneurs and longtime business owners, reflecting the alliance's work to tell their stories. Initiatives like Cafe Pandulce, Radio Poder, and the Downtown Policy and Chamber of Commerce meetings aim to connect businesses with resources and empower them to advocate for community needs. The Woodburn Family Resource Center, a one-stop shop for various support services, has served over 2,000 individuals in 2025. The school district collaborates with various organizations to support youth and families, leading to increased school attendance and the development of programs like teen court and community career days. The Fiesta Mexicana Court develops leadership skills in high school students, contributing to college scholarships. Placemaking efforts have resulted in the installation of over 12 community-nominated art pieces. A partnership with the school district led to the installation of a life-sized bison sculpture to commemorate local history. Woodburn Proud is developing the region's first inclusive playground.
