City Commission Adopts Proposed Millage Rate and Amends to 6.0
The City Commission adopted a proposed operating millage rate of 6.2270 for general operating budget purposes for fiscal year 2026-27 and a proposed millage levy for voted debt service of 0.1598 for the 2008 City Hall bond for fiscal year 2026-27. The resolution authorizes staff to submit these proposed rates to the property appraiser for inclusion in the truth in millage rate notices. Two additional public hearings will be held to consider the final millage rate and budget, with the next scheduled for September 14th. The commission discussed potential reductions to the millage rate, ultimately amending the motion to set the operating millage rate at 6.0, down from the initial proposed 6.2270, while keeping the debt service millage rate at 0.1598. This amended motion passed with Commissioner Brockie dissenting.
Preliminary Fire Assessment Rate Reduced for Fiscal Year 2027
The City Commission adopted the preliminary fire services assessment for fiscal year 2027. The annual residential assessment was set at $333.24, representing a decrease of $19.22 from the current fiscal year. A public hearing to adopt the final fire assessment rate is scheduled for the September 14th City Commission meeting.
Preliminary Janata Gated Entrance Improvement Assessment Adopted
The City Commission adopted the preliminary annual assessment roll for the Janata Gated Entrance Improvement Assessment for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. This adoption authorizes the commission to conduct a public hearing and directs the provision of notice thereof. Further details regarding the assessment and its final adoption will be presented at subsequent public hearings.
