Roseville Partners with Adult School to Launch Water Operator Training Program
The City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Roseville Joint Union High School District's Roseville Adult School to establish a Certified Water Distribution Operator Pilot Program. This program aims to address a projected shortage of water operators by training adult students for D1 and D2 water distribution licensure. The city will provide in-kind support, including advisory and curriculum guidance, industry mentorship, basic equipment for demonstrations, and facility tours. The city will also offer internship opportunities to program graduates. The program aligns with the city's strategic plan to be an employer of choice and recruit talent for utility careers. The pilot program is set to launch on August 18th and will be offered in the fall.
HP Campus Oaks CFD Approves Bond Refunding for $1.4 Million in Savings
The City Council considered the HP Campus Oaks Community Facilities District (CFD) 1 Series 2026 bond issuance. The bonds, first issued in 2016, are recommended for refunding to achieve present value savings of 8.75%, estimated at $1.4 million. These savings will be used to fund eligible improvements within the district, potentially including park amenities, transportation, drainage, water and wastewater improvements, and open space enhancements. The final maturity date of the bonds will remain unchanged. Staff recommended approving the resolution authorizing the bond issuance and related actions and documents.
Roseville Approves Traffic Garden Project to Enhance Child Safety Education
The City Council considered the establishment of a new capital improvement project for the Roseville Traffic Garden and approved a $247,000 budget adjustment from the transportation fund. This project aims to create a safe, car-free environment for children and new riders to practice biking and road safety. The proposed location is a vacant parking lot downtown near the Oak Street roundabout. The project plans to include educational signage, and potential future phases may involve purchasing strider bikes. Sponsorship opportunities will be explored to offset costs. The Downtown Roseville Partnership and Blue Line Gallery have expressed support and a desire to participate. The goal is to have the garden open within a year and serve as a community-wide project and a destination for visitors.
