City Council Approves Boundary Amendment for Village 5A Annexation to District 3

The City Council considered and approved an amendment to Resolution 2026-104. This amendment reassigns the newly annexed Village 5A area to City Council District 3. The original resolution, adopted on June 3rd, 2026, called for the municipal election and consolidation with the statewide general election on November 3rd, 2026. An omission was identified by County election staff on July 16th, 2026, regarding a boundary change. City staff collaborated with County officials to identify Village 5A as the affected area and, following municipal code, proposed its incorporation into District 3 due to its contiguous connection and alignment with Highway 65 as a boundary. This update ensures accurate election administration for the less than 100 voters in the affected area, allowing them to participate in upcoming elections. The resolution was deemed sufficient by the Registrar of Voters to resolve the issue. The council approved the amended map unanimously with a 5-0 vote.
