Residents Continue to Battle Noise Nuisance from Express Auto Spa

The township attorney is exploring further remediation measures, including potentially eliminating vacuums during certain hours and installing a sound fence, but noted legal challenges in shutting down the business. Residents also questioned the initial approval of the car wash location, pointing out that other Express Auto Spa locations are situated in commercial areas, not near residential homes.
Township Sells Property to Board of Education for $1
The Township Council approved Ordinance 24-2026, authorizing the sale of township-owned property to the Livingston Board of Education for $1. This property has been on the radar for several years, and its transfer is considered a significant win for the town, allowing the Board of Education to utilize the building as they see fit. The process involved extensive work from the town attorney, Jared Cantor, and his office, as well as collaboration between the township and the Board of Education.
Livingston Chinese Association Recognized for Contributions to Community and 4th of July Celebration
During the public comment section, the Livingston Chinese Association (LCA) expressed gratitude for the town's 250th Independence Day celebration. The LCA was a gold sponsor, provided financial support, organized an art display, and ran a children's game booth with volunteers and prizes. Community members also purchased a significant number of commemorative medallions. The LCA highlighted the community's extensive volunteer service in various township roles and mentioned receiving a National Outstanding Community Service Organization Award. The council and mayor commended the LCA for their contributions and community spirit.
Council Approves Multiple Contract Awards Via Consent Agenda
The consent agenda included several resolutions, with one item (26-223) being removed for separate consideration due to a recusal. The remaining resolutions were approved by a single motion and vote. These resolutions authorized contract awards to various companies, including Firefighter 1 LLC, Chemco Inc., Jessco Inc., and Rapid Pump and Master Company, LLC, for unspecified services or goods. Resolution 26-223, authorizing a contract award to Farino and Sons Inc., was also approved separately with all council members voting in favor.
Township Finalizes Consent Order for Fair Share Housing Obligations
Township Attorney Jared Cantor provided an update on the township's fourth round of Fair Share Housing obligations. He announced that a consent order has been finalized with the Fair Share Housing Center, which will be sent to the judge for entry. Once entered, the township will gain 10-year immunity from third-round obligations, with a five-year midpoint review. This is considered the easier and more beneficial route for the township compared to a court hearing.
