Orange Students Earn Scholar Athlete and Best Teammate Awards
Orange High School seniors Anthony Alleman and Lovedana LaRont were recognized as Super Essex Conference Scholar Athletes of the Year, each receiving a $500 scholarship. STEM Academy Senior Naomi Sanubi was recognized as the NJSIA scholar athlete representative for Orange Athletics and will also receive a $500 scholarship. Junior Razi Cruz received the Super Essex Conference Best Teammate Award from the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center for contributions through leadership, encouragement, sportsmanship, and positive impact.
Intramural League Championship Games Conclude
The superintendents intramural league championship games took place on May 30th, with Forest Community School winning the middle school divisions and "Avenue Schools" (likely referring to a specific school or group of schools) winning the grades four to five division. The event was well-attended and enjoyed by students.
STEM Innovation Academy Holds SEL Day and First PEP Rally
STEM Innovation Academy Administration and student representatives hosted a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day, concluding with their first-ever PEP rally. The day included meaningful conversations, group exercises, and engaging activities for staff, students, and guests, highlighting student talent, recognizing staff, and celebrating athletes.
Annual Orange Week Tennis Tournament Announced
The annual Orange Week tennis tournament will be held on Saturday, June 6th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Playground. This event is a collaboration with the USTA, the City of Orange, and multiple community partners. Tennis has been introduced to the school district, and the tournament serves as a coordinating event for students to compete across the district. Top three finishers in the grades four-five and middle school divisions will be recognized.
Next School Board Meeting Scheduled for June 10th
The next school board meeting is scheduled for June 10th at the district administrative offices, starting no later than 7:30 p.m. Community members are invited to attend and hear about district activities and plans. Superintendent Dr. Fitzhugh will provide an in-depth report on activities and plans for the upcoming school year.
