Maplewood Township Committee Adopts 2026 Budget, Introduces Immigrant Trust Act and Traffic Ordinances

The Maplewood Township Committee adopted the 2026 municipal budget, which included an amendment. A public hearing was held for the budget amendment, and no members of the public spoke on the matter. The ordinance for the Maplewood Immigrant Trust Act and an ordinance to amend chapter 19 of the code regarding the Community Board on Police were introduced. Additionally, three new ordinances were introduced: one amending chapter 237 regarding design criteria in the Maplewood Village Special Improvement District, another amending chapter 257 concerning right turn on red, and a third to amend the classification of employment positions and establish salary ranges for employees. The committee also discussed and approved modifications to contracts for engineering services related to traffic studies for the Oakland Road pilot program and the Prospect Street corridor.
