Annual 'Party in the Park' Set for August 8th
The annual 'Party in the Park' event is scheduled for August 8th. The event will feature a wet-dry parade, mud volleyball tournament, food and craft vendors, and bounce houses. The evening will conclude with musical performances by Homebrew and Dylan Schneiner. Residents interested in participating in the wet-dry parade can contact Addie for openings.
Online Utility Bill Payment Service Restored
Online payment for utility bills is now live and operational. This service was temporarily unavailable but has been restored. Addie released a statement regarding this update this afternoon. The restoration of this service is seen as a significant improvement after a difficult process.
Candidate Forum Scheduled for This Evening
A candidate forum will be held tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. at the event center. Residents interested in learning about the candidates are encouraged to attend.
Drag Strip Amendment Tabled for Further Review
The City Council voted to table the 'drag straight drag strip amendment number four' to the next meeting. This decision was made to allow for further clarification and conversations with both the SRCA and the Department of West, following issues that arose earlier in the afternoon. The motion to refer the item to the next meeting passed unanimously.
CVB Promotes Tourism and Local Sales
The CVB Director reported on outreach efforts at the NHRA race on July 8th, where over 200 'Explore Great Bend' bags were distributed to racers, receiving positive feedback. The director also spoke about tourism initiatives at the Noon Lions Club and on a KSN Destinations Kansas podcast, which will be aired on Friday at 7 p.m. Additionally, downtown retailers are hosting summer sidewalk sales this Friday and Saturday.
