City to Consider RFP for Animal Shelter Operations
The City Commission will consider whether to direct city staff to develop and advertise a request for proposal (RFP) for the operation of the animal shelter [cite: 27-29].

An executive session is scheduled to discuss the possible acquisition of real estate, with possible action to follow [cite: 44-45].
City Considers Approval of Federal Funds and Grant Eligibility
The consent agenda includes approval for the 2026 federal funds exchange and acceptance of the 2026 emergency solutions grant. Approval of eligibility for the Healthy Kansas Multimodal Transportation and Recreational Trails Package Grant is also on the agenda [cite: 38-42].
Water Tower Maintenance and Easement Grants on Agenda
The City Commission will consider approval of a change order for maintenance to the water tower on Centennial Road south of Schilling Road, and granting of easements to property owners affected by the levy [cite: 21-25].
Public Hearings on Street and Easement Vacancies; Support for Airplanes Addition Phase 2
The City Commission will hold public hearings on vacating portions of Decatur Street and Chester Avenue, as well as vacating two utility easements on the K-State Salina campus. Additionally, they will consider a resolution of support for Kansas investor tax credits for the next phase of the airplanes addition [cite: 16-19, 31-33]. The Planning Commission met on July 21st and approved a zoning change for land on the south side of West Diamond Drive and a preliminary plat for the Auburndale District Addition on the east side of South 9th Street, north of Avenue A, for future commercial use [cite: 53-59].
