Thornton Township Awards $3,000 PPRT Fund to Village of Dalton, Highlights Intergovernmental Collaboration

Thornton Township Highway Commissioner Antoine presented to the board regarding the allocation of Illinois Personal Property Replacement Tax (PPRT) funds. These funds are distributed by the state to local governments to offset lost revenue from the elimination of the personal property tax on businesses. The PPRT funds are flexible and can be used for general municipal purposes, including essential services, infrastructure, and community programs, without increasing the tax burden on residents. Commissioner Antoine highlighted the collaborative efforts between Thornton Township and Dalton's engineering team, Robertson Engineering, to potentially reduce costs for roadway improvements through intergovernmental agreements (IGAs). A check for $3,000 was presented to the village, which is intended for public works petty cash.
