City Gears Up for America 250 and Fourth of July Celebrations
The city is preparing for the America 250 and Fourth of July celebrations, which will include a parade, pancake breakfast, patriotic pet party, and concerts. The event aims to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary and honor freedoms. The parade route will go down Capitol Boulevard to the state capital. The Veteran Entrepreneur Alliance will host a pancake breakfast, with free pancakes for veterans and first responders and $5 for others. The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Idaho chapter, will be the grand marshal for the parade. Several sponsors, including Peterson, Micron, CBH Home, Simplot, and Coca-Cola, are supporting the event, with some building custom floats. Media partners include CBS 2, Fox 9, KBOI, and La Grande. The event will also feature a drone show and fireworks. Road closures and traffic control plans are in place for various parts of the city to accommodate these events.
Twilight Criterium Returns for 39th Year with New Street Sprint Event
The 39th annual Twilight Criterium, a professional cycling race, will take place in downtown Boise. The event aims to strengthen the community's cycling culture and promote active lifestyles. It is organized by the nonprofit Twilight Criterium and Boise Development Cycling, with the goal of breaking even financially. The race is part of the American Criterium Cup, ranking it among the top six national criterium races. New this year is a 'Friday night street sprint' event on 14th Street, featuring a 200-yard sprint with prize money, serving as a test for potential future festival blocks. The event includes various races, an expo, a VIP tent, opening ceremonies, and an award ceremony. Several sponsors are involved, including Red Bull, which is supporting the street sprint event.
Ann Morrison Park to Host Summer Celebration with Drone Show and Fireworks
The 'Summer' event, likely a fireworks show or similar celebration, will take place in Ann Morrison Park. The event will start at 6 PM with food trucks and radio station activities, followed by a concert by the Boise Phil Harmonic at 9 PM. A new drone show will follow the concert, launching from the Dog Island area, and the day will conclude with a fireworks show. Several road closures and traffic control measures are in effect, including Americana Boulevard and Katherine Albertson's Park, which will be used for ADA parking. Additional security guards, two beer gardens, and increased food vendors are planned. Medical services will be provided by the fire department, with two locations within the park. An interactive map with a QR code will be available on the website to provide information on parking, lighting, restrooms, and vending.
