Public Comments Highlight Construction Delays and Community Initiatives
Public comments were received regarding a community service project, the ongoing roundabout construction on Middleton Road, and traffic disruptions. Concerns were raised about the delay in the roundabout project, the inconvenience and safety hazards caused by construction on Middleton Road, and the potential for overlapping construction projects. Riverwalk Crossing Phase Three Final Plat Approved
The council considered and approved the final plat for Riverwalk Crossing phase three. While there were some outstanding concerns regarding Middleton Road that were being addressed, the project was deemed to be moving forward positively. The development is bounded by Middleton Road to the west and the Lawrence Kennedy Canal to the north, with interior lots designated for commercial use.
New Fall Banners Approved for Main Street
The council approved the use of council discretionary funds to purchase 27 new fall banners for Main Street. The banners will be sourced from Moska Design for an amount not exceeding $1,794. These banners are intended to replace weathered ones and introduce a few new designs to refresh the streetscape.
Business Growth Limited by Space and Transportation Uncertainty; Potential Solutions Identified
During discussions about attracting businesses, it was noted that limitations include a lack of available building space and uncertainty surrounding the ITD's decision on a bypass or highway expansion. The Riverwalk community development and the Crane Creek urban renewal project are seen as potential solutions to create commercial corridors. Once ITD makes a decision, further development is expected.
City Hall to Feature Mural by Senior Art Group
The Caldwell Senior Art Group proposed gifting a mural to be painted on the east side of city hall. The mural, designed by the group, aims to represent agricultural history, family, and hard work, encouraging the community to put aside differences. The group, composed of professional artists, plans to start immediately upon consent and finish by October. The council approved the concept and application for the mural.
