Beverly Hills Extends Urgency Ordinance for Transit-Oriented Development Plan Amidst State Review
The City Council considered an urgency ordinance to extend the effective period of an amended transit-oriented development (TOD) alternative plan, previously adopted in response to SB 79. The plan aims to increase density near transit stations but has faced scrutiny regarding its compliance with state requirements for maintaining total housing capacity and allowing height waivers. The current proposal seeks to extend the urgency ordinance for an additional 10-15 days, bringing the total effective period to one year, while awaiting further review and feedback from the state Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD).
