City Council Approves Numerous Procurement Contracts for Services, Maintenance, and Equipment
The City Council approved several procurement ordinances, including agreements with Miller Pipeline LLC for retiring services, Top Notch Landscaping and Supply LLC for streetscape maintenance, USI Insurance Services LLC for insurance policies, Wesner, Worton and Andrews Insurance LLC for cyber security insurance, Samsara for vehicle alerts and monitoring, Arnold Fire Equipment LLC for fire department turnout gear, and Cast and Baker for street resurfacing. Funds were also authorized for the demolition of the TCI building by Reclaim Company LLC.
City Council Approves New No Parking Zones; TAP Grant Secured for Hempfield Tunnel Restoration
The City Council discussed and approved ordinances related to traffic management, including extending no parking zones on Woodlawn Lane and designating 24-hour no parking zones at intersections along Valley View Avenue and ABC streets. Additionally, a TAP grant was awarded for engineering and design for the restoration of the Hempfield Tunnel on the Heritage Trail system, which is a $150,000 grant with a $30,000 match, intended to lead to a $1 million restoration project.
City Council Approves Multiple Financial Ordinances and Budget Revisions
The City Council approved ordinances for various expenditures, including funds for retiring services, streetscape maintenance, excess liability and workers compensation policies, cyber security insurance, vehicle alerts and monitoring, turnout gear for the fire department, and street resurfacing. Additionally, budget revisions for the general fund and coal severance budget were approved. The council also authorized funds for the abatement and demolition of the TCI building.
Clay School Demolition Nears Completion; D-LAP Funding Secured for Residential Structures; TAP Grant Awarded for Hempfield Tunnel
The City Council is moving forward with the Clay School demolition project, which is approximately 90% complete. The D-LAP funding has been secured for the demolition of eight or nine residential structures, and the city manager praised the contractors involved. Additionally, a TAP grant was awarded for the engineering and design of the Hempfield Tunnel restoration.
North Park Parcel Rezoned from R2 to R4 Residential
The City Council approved an ordinance to change the zoning district classification of a 6.962-acre parcel of North Park from R2 residential to R4 residential.
