Waux Hatchie ISD Crisis Management Team Discusses Emergency Operations Plan, SRO Program, and Graduation Security

The Waux Hatchie ISD crisis management team met to discuss the multi-hazard emergency operations plan (EOP), specifically focusing on updating the basic plan and creating a reunification annex. The Texas School Safety Center provides templates and examples for these documents, which are expected to be completed and presented in August. The team also discussed the School Resource Officer (SRO) program and school marshals. SRO Williams has been moved to the patrol division, and a replacement is being sought before the school year begins and by the SRO conference in July. Applications are being reviewed for two school marshal positions. Active shooter training, including classroom and hands-on components, was conducted for both SROs and marshals and will continue in August. Additionally, the team reviewed preparations for Waxahachie ISD graduations, noting the deployment of 14 marshals and 5 SROs for security, the use of three entrances with metal detectors, one heat-related medical emergency that was resolved, the positioning of an ambulance on standby, and the use of five units for traffic direction to expedite parking lot clearance post-graduation.
