Red Oak Planning Commission Denies Zoning Change for Temporary Data Center Parking
The Planning and Zoning Commission considered a zoning change request from PD Plan Development 164 revised three to PD plan development 164 revised four to allow construction logistics, specifically temporary parking, on approximately 61.6316 acres of land. The applicant, Data Bank, requested this to accommodate construction needs for an existing data center. The proposed parking area would be temporary, lasting no more than three years, and would utilize a flex-based parking surface. Access would be from Loop 9, not Stainback Road. Concerns raised by staff and the public included lighting, access, screening, drainage, and the material used for the parking surface. The commission ultimately voted against the proposal, with concerns about the temporary nature of the parking, the material used, and the impact on the residential buffer zones.
