Kayla Reynolds and Zach Carroll Receive 2026 Waste Management Scholarships
Kayla Reynolds and Zach Carroll were recognized as recipients of the 2026 Waste Management (WM) Scholarship. WM has been a partner to Cedar Hill for over 20 years, contributing over $100,000 to the city. The scholarships are presented as an investment in the youth and future of Cedar Hill. Kayla Reynolds, a 14-year resident, will attend Baylor University for pre-med biology, having volunteered and served on the Mayor's Teen Council. Zach Carroll, graduating in the top 6% of his class with an Associate's degree, will attend Texas A&M University to study kinesiology with plans for a doctorate in physical therapy. Both students expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
Milot Margaret Estates Final Plat Approved for Lot Line Adjustments
The City Council approved a final plat for Milot Margaret Estates, case number FP 781-2026. This re-platting concerns Lots 2R, 3R-1, and 3R-2, originally Lots 2 and 3 of Milot Margaret Estates, to shift property lines and create an additional lot. The property is zoned single-family residential (SF10) with a minimum lot area of 2,000 square feet. The location is on the north side of East Little Creek Road and the west side of South Joe Wilson Road, approximately 350 feet west of their intersection, with addresses 711 East Little Creek Road and 1000 South Joe Wilson Road. The applicant and property owner, Emily Thomas, was present but had no presentation, and the council confirmed no new roads were being created, only lot lines were being adjusted. The motion to approve passed unanimously.
Cedar Hill Approves Master Lease for Fleet Vehicles and Agreement for Vehicle Sales
The City Council approved a master lease agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management (EFM) for fleet vehicles. Councilmember Sims supported the decision, citing improved vehicle conditions for service delivery, reduced maintenance costs in future years (saving budget dollars), increased equipment fund balance, and reallocation of staff time. The city manager and finance director were thanked for providing answers to Sims' questions during a briefing session. The council also authorized the mayor to execute an assignment agreement with EFM to sell city-owned vehicles with equity return for procuring new vehicles. Both items passed unanimously.
