Town Board Approves Towing Company Addition, DPW Hire, and Emergency Repairs
The town board approved several motions: accepting regular meeting minutes from July 9, 2026; paying audited bills; accepting the resignation of police officers Timothy Horton and Curtis K. Paul, effective July 24th, 2026; and adding Prestige Towing and Recovery Incorporated to the town's list of approved third-party towing companies. They also approved appointing Kenneth Dispaltro as a full-time Department of Public Works laborer. Additionally, they approved emergency plumbing repairs for Mountain Lake Park facilities and authorized signing an amended agreement with MHE Engineering for wastewater treatment system upgrades. Robert R. Fashini was appointed as a part-time police dispatcher.
Warwick Valley Humane Society Seeks Donations Amidst Low Supplies
Councilman D'Angelo reported on the needs of the Warwick Valley Humane Society, which is experiencing low supplies. They are requesting monetary donations and specific items including paper towels, paper plates, pate-style canned cat and kitten food, Science Diet dry dog/cat/kitten food, Simple Green cleaner, bleach, equine pine pellet bedding (litter), and emphasizing that towels and blankets are not needed. Donations should be dropped off after calling the shelter due to limited storage. He also reminded residents to provide outdoor pets with protection from elements and clean water. For dog releases, proof of rabies vaccination, dog license, and payment of the town's impound fee are required.
Warwick Seeks $185,000 Grant for Town Hall Solar Panel Installation
The Town of Warwick is requesting financial assistance from the New York State Climate Smart Communities Grant Program. The town certifies it has identified $185,000 in matching funds from the general fund. The resolution authorizes Town Supervisor Jesse Dwire to act on behalf of the town in submitting an application through the Consolidated Funding Application for $185,000 to be used for installing solar panels on town hall.
Pine Island Well Online, Water Quality Improved; Staff Achieve Certifications
The Deputy Commissioner of Water and Sewer reported on several key updates. The Pine Island well has been successfully turned on and is providing improved water quality. Summer maintenance, including mowing, painting, and mechanical repairs at facilities, is ongoing. Specific repairs included a leaking curve box on Lakeshore Road and two leaks on the Grim Lake Summerwater system. Roads in Indian Park were paved with DPW assistance. A DEC inspection was conducted at the main wastewater facility, with operations remaining within consent order limits. Employee Ryan McFersonson achieved his Grade 2A water certification from the NYS Department of Health, the highest classification needed to operate drinking water facilities. In response to a question, it was clarified that the Pine Island system primarily uses the new well, with the older well serving as a backup for high demand periods. No resident complaints regarding taste or quality have been reported.
Pools Busy, Swim Lessons Concluding; Senior Aquafit Accepting More Participants
The Recreation Director reported that the town pools have been busy, with occasional closures due to heavy rain, thunderstorms, or air quality issues from smoke, which are posted on the town's Facebook page. Swim lessons are nearing completion, with children receiving Red Cross cards and rubber ducky treats. Senior Aquafit classes are finishing their July session and preparing for August; the instructor can accommodate more participants. Park grounds are busy with pickleball camps and general upkeep. The DPW Director mentioned ongoing tree clearing on the Long House Creek Trail, which is described as an annual occurrence that some employees enjoy.
