Village Advances $10 Million Water System Rehabilitation Project, Secures Grant Extensions and Prepares for Bids
The village is moving forward with a $10 million water system rehabilitation project. The project is progressing well, with plans to go out to bid for the water tank and water pipes this summer. Subsequent phases will involve the pump and wells. A resolution was passed to extend an existing grant agreement for the project from April 2027 to April 2028, providing a buffer for potential material availability issues or delays. Another resolution authorizes the village to advertise for bids for the storage tank and water line, with bids expected to be awarded in September. Additional engineering services will be provided by Foster Engineering under a new agreement, funded by a contingency fund. The village is also pursuing two grant applications for water infrastructure improvements, one for $92,700,000 and another through a WEA grant program, building on previous unsuccessful attempts. These grant applications do not incur additional preparation costs for the village.
Village to Implement Professional Plan Review to Ensure Development Consistency
The village board discussed a new policy to ensure consistency in submitted building and planning plans. A resolution was introduced to retain the Hartman Design Group to provide professional review of all plans submitted to the village, including those for planning, building, and CBRC. This review will focus on layout, height, setbacks, and adherence to the village code, ensuring that the plans submitted at the beginning of the process remain consistent throughout without surprises or unauthorized additions. The Hartman Design Group will work behind the scenes and not attend planning board meetings. Fees for this service will be covered by applicants submitting project plans.
