City Council Approves National Grid Poll Installation on Corticelli Street for EV Charging at 140 Pine Street
The City Council held a public hearing and voted to open and subsequently close the hearing on a National Grid petition to install a single stub poll on Corticelli Street. This new poll will provide service to 140 Pine Street to support EV chargers. The poll is proposed to be located on the grass side of the street, before the sidewalk, and National Grid confirmed there were no abutters near the proposed location. The project is necessary because National Grid cannot allow underground service across a public road for the EV chargers at 140 Pine Street. The poll petition was approved as part of the consent agenda.
Council Approves Utility Fund Transfers for DCC Expansion, Building Inspections, and Water Infrastructure
The council discussed and voted on several financial orders, including those related to utilities. Specifically, the council approved final FY26 end-of-year transfers, which included funds to address expenses related to the expansion of hours for the DCC (Department of Community Coordination), and also covered overtime for building inspectors. Furthermore, a transfer within the water enterprise fund was approved to reallocate funds from a completed project in Leeds to the transmission main project and to replace aging radio read equipment for water meters. These actions ensure continued utility service operations and infrastructure maintenance.

Renee Tiberge spoke as an intervener in support of the divestment resolution, sharing personal history with Palestinian refugees and emphasizing the right of residents to align investments with values. Laura Belushi spoke in support of the divestment resolution, referencing an ongoing ceasefire and the targeting of children. Shelly Berkowitz criticized several city initiatives, including the Picture Main Street project, disinformation campaigns, unfulfilled needs of residents, and lack of transparency in city government.
