Eversource Energy Approved to Install New Pole and Service on Greenwood Court
The Greenwod Court petition involved Nstar Electric, doing business as Eversource Energy, seeking approval to relocate and/or install poles, wires, cables, and fixtures, including a new solely-owned pole, along Greenwood Court. The purpose of the pole is to extend primary service to install a transformer bank, thereby dedicating a separate service for the physical plant, distinct from the ice rink's current shared service. This separation aims to prevent shutdowns of the physical plant during maintenance of the ice rink's pad-mount transformer. The transformer itself, a green box, is an existing pad-mount transformer that will be connected to the new pole. The petition also allows for underground laterals and the reservation of space on poles for municipal fire and police signal wires. The motion was made to approve this petition.
Utility Pole Installation Approved on Nitfor Avenue Amidst Residential Development
The petition for Nitfor Avenue involved Nstar Electric, doing business as Eversource Energy, and Verizon New England Incorporated, seeking approval to relocate and/or install poles, wires, cables, and fixtures. This includes installing one jointly owned 35-ft utility pole approximately 18 ft from the road center line, situated 48 ft easterly of pole 91/B14 and 30 ft westerly of pole 91/B15 on Nitfor Avenue. The project also includes permission to lay and maintain underground laterals and reserve space on poles for municipal fire and police signal wires. The proposal is for a residential area with a new multi-unit home construction, including a duplex and a single unit. Concerns were raised by a council member regarding the pole's potential obstruction of vision for residents and its placement in front of the building rather than the driveway. No public comment was received. The motion to recommend for full council approval passed.
