City Approves Agreement for Mississippi River Bridge Lighting Project Engineering Services
The city is seeking approval for a professional services agreement with Vulpen, Inc. for the Mississippi River Bridge lighting project, not to exceed $69,110. This project is funded by 2022 and 2026 Mississippi legislature earmarks. The agreement includes preparing construction documents, coordinating with the US Coast Guard and MDOT, and assisting with the bid process. The agreement is contingent upon receiving funding from the state of Louisiana, though the preparation of bid documents will proceed using existing Mississippi funds to avoid sunsetting.
Golf Course Seeks Approval for Lease of 55 New Carts and Range Cart Amidst Price Increase
The city is seeking approval for a quote from Yamaha Corporation for leasing 55 new golf carts and one new range cart for the golf course. The lease is proposed for four years, with a 13% price increase on the standard carts (from $68/month to $77.16/month) and $180/month for the superintendent's cart and $255/month for the range cart. The range cart is specifically requested for safety reasons due to its enclosure and lights for picking up range balls, especially at night. Revenue from golf carts and range balls significantly exceeds lease costs.
Entergy Mississippi Utility Relocation at Hyum Rebels Plaza Approved for $10,448.26, Funded by HUD Grant
The city approved a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Entergy Mississippi for utility relocation at Hyum Rebels Plaza, part of the fiscal year 24 HUD community project funding. The new cost is $10,448.26, a reduction from the previously approved $15,241.00. This project is entirely funded by federal and state appropriations and grants, not local taxpayer money.
Senior Center Staff Request to Attend Public Transit Leadership Conference; Elevator Repair Praised
Carla Monroe and Roy Hill from the Senior Center requested permission to attend the Mississippi Public Transit annual leadership conference in Jackson from August 11th to 14th. Monroe also expressed gratitude for the recent repair of the Senior Center elevator.
