Vicksburg Police U-Turn Program Celebrates 15 Graduates
The Vicksburg Police Department's U-Turn Program celebrated its graduates, recognizing 15 young individuals who completed the intervention program aimed at helping youth make better life choices. The program is a partnership involving the Vicksburg Police Department, Youth Development Center, Gateway Behavior Health Services, Leadership Vicksburg, Warren County Youth Court, and the City of Vicksburg. The initiative aims to provide guidance and support to young people, with a call for more community mentors, particularly men, to get involved.
City Approves Payments for Multiple Infrastructure and Development Projects
The board approved several payments for professional services and projects. These included payments for the Riverfront Park LPA project, NRCS Hennessy Highway 80 Pittman Confederate, general services, sports complex lighting, Vicksburg Convention Center wall remediation, NRCS Highland Drive and Rifle Range, airport advisory services, and airport asset relocation. Additionally, payments for the Fisher Ferry Bridge replacement and a portion of the city's cost share for the Riverfront Park Development Project were approved. Contract Modification Approved for River Museum to Comply with Executive Order
The board approved the execution of an amendment to a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, for the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum Utility Service. This modification is to ensure compliance with Executive Order 14398, which prohibits contractors from engaging in racially discriminatory activities.
