Council Approves Numerous Purchases, Contracts, and Retiree Payments

The council approved several purchase orders and contracts for various city services and equipment. These include a permanent easement for Alabama Power for fire station 19 and Japanese Gardens, a grant from the Department of Homeland Security, a contract for DJ Black Entertainment, appropriations for Boington Oak Society and Mobile Bay Area Veterans Commission, a purchase order for cloud maintenance services for electric vehicle charging stations, law enforcement upfits, stainless steel baggage tables for the cruise terminal, storm drainage vegetation removal, painting of cruise terminal bollards, fire boots and helmets, paramedic courses, preventive maintenance for defibrillators, and a consultant contract for the Africa Town Welcome Center. The council also authorized onetime lump sum payments to RSA/ERS for city and transit authority retirees, and discussed the potential for cost-of-living adjustments for police and fire retirees. A contract was also approved for new playground equipment at Lavaretta Park, and professional services for governance review and improvement consulting were authorized. Additionally, a contract for the replacement of teak decking on the USS Alabama and post-disaster support services were approved. Finally, the council revoked the business license for All Weather Roofing.
