Provisional Status Removed for Property Inspector Mr. Cook
The council considered removing Mr. Cook from provisional status based on a report from Inspector Chris Skelton. Council Approves Tourism Fund Allocation for Advertising via Matching Grant
The council approved the allocation of tourism funds for advertising purposes, utilizing a marketing matching grant from the Missouri Division of Tourism. This grant covers 50% of the advertising costs for various events planned for the upcoming seasons. The specific request was for $2,212.50 to fund advertisements in Children Magazine, Jonesboro Sun newspaper and its website, billboards and sites in Jonesboro, and a radio ad on KTML, with the state covering the remaining 50% of the costs. These advertisements are intended to highlight the fall and arts festival, cruisers car show, Delta Fair, and the target season, with some ads being placed more than 50 miles outside the local area as per grant requirements.
Kennedy Park Board Appointments Approved
The council approved appointments to the Kennedy Park Board. Megan Shear and Dustin Pritchette were reappointed, having served previously. Melinda is appointed for her first year on the board. The motion to approve these appointments was made and seconded.
Police Warn Public About Phone Scams; Department Seeks Grant Funding
The Police Department is warning the public about an increase in telephone scams where callers impersonate police officers or sheriff's deputies. These scammers are using local officers' names and information found online. The Police Department emphasizes that they will never demand payment over the phone. Residents who believe they have been scammed are urged to contact the police or sheriff's department. Additionally, the Police Department has submitted two grants (state and federal) for equipment funding.
Motion Passed to Forward Comprehensive Plan to Planning and Zoning Committee
The council discussed the comprehensive plan, with a motion made to send it to the Planning and Zoning Committee for review. The motion was made by Mr. Carter and seconded by Mr. Puzz. The vote passed, indicating the plan will proceed to the next stage of review.
