Law Fire Department Authorized to Recover Costs for Out-of-City Emergency Responses
The City Council passed a resolution authorizing the Law Fire Department to recover costs for emergency responses outside city limits and to utilize a third-party billing service. This allows the department to seek reimbursement for personnel, apparatus, equipment, and materials used in responses outside municipal boundaries, in compliance with Arkansas law (Act 1345 of 2013). The city will contract with a third-party service for claims processing and collection, ensuring no additional taxes or fees are imposed on residents.
Storm Drainage Repairs on Walker Street to be Funded by Grants and Surplus Funds
The City Council considered an ordinance waiving competitive bidding for storm drainage repairs on Walker Street. The proposed repairs by Jowers General Contracting amount to $185,500. The city intends to use $100,000 from unused grant money from the Magnatech project, identified as ADA EDC and CDBG grants, and $85,000 from the general fund surplus. These grants are designated for infrastructure in disadvantaged areas.
City Council Approves Entergy Arkansas Agreement for Streetlight Upgrades
The City Council approved entering into an agreement with Entergy Arkansas for upgrades to selected streetlights within the city. Entergy Arkansas will provide these services according to terms in Exhibit A. The Mayor is authorized to execute the agreement and any necessary additional instruments. This project aims to improve lighting efficiency and radiance in the city, particularly at entrances and exits.
City Council Approves $16,169.45 for Lighting Upgrades from Grant Fund
The City Council approved an increase in the budget for public works signing and signals by $16,169.45, to be funded from the strategic plan grant fund. This action is part of an agreement with Entergy Arkansas for LED streetlight upgrades. The council also waived bids for this project.
City Council Authorizes Interlocal Agreement with Mississippi County
The City Council authorized the Mayor to enter into an interlocal agreement with Mississippi County. The terms of this agreement are outlined in Exhibit A. This resolution signifies the City Council's approval and acknowledgment of the binding effect of the agreement on the City of Lydal and directs the Mayor to execute any necessary additional instruments.
