Lower Selmire Park Playground Recommendation Moves to City Council
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board discussed and recommended playground options for Lower Selmire Park. Following a public survey where 235 respondents provided feedback, the board narrowed down the choices to options C, D, and E. Option E, at $151,925, was the most preferred by respondents but exceeded the $140,000 budget. Option D, at $140,368.19, was within budget and ranked highly, while Option C, at $129,560.90, was under budget and also a strong contender. The board ultimately recommended Option E as the primary choice to the city council, citing its popularity, superior turf warranty (15 years), and inclusion of adult swings and two benches. Option C was recommended as a secondary choice, with the possibility of including the alternate concrete work for ADA access, a picnic table, and a grill, should the city council approve it. The board voted 5-0 to forward this recommendation to the city council.
