Special Use Permit Approved for Automotive Sales and Repair at 1504 Eagle Court
The Planning and Zoning Commission considered and recommended approval for a special use permit (SUP) for automotive repair (minor) and automotive sales and leasing at 1504 Eagle Court. The property, zoned light industrial, is legally described as lot 9, block A, Fairway Business Park. The tenant, Over-Under Racing LLC, sought to add sales and leasing to their existing automotive repair use. No changes to the site, building, parking, or landscaping are proposed, and all business operations will occur indoors. This SUP is required because the addition of sales and leasing alongside repairs is not permitted under the current zoning without special approval. The commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval, with the final decision to be made by the City Council on July 6th, 2026. This follows previous SUPs granted for automotive repair on the same property in 2021 and 2024.
Commission Recommends Approval for Tennis and Pickleball Court Expansion at Lakeside Castle Hills
The Planning and Zoning Commission heard two public hearings concerning the expansion of the Lakeside Castle Hills tennis facility. The proposals involved a zone change request from Planned Development Single-Family Residential (PDR 12) to Planned Development General Business (PDGB2) for 2.575 acres of the Castle Hills golf course property, and a special use permit (SUP) for commercial amusement outdoors on 5.74 acres. The expansion includes adding two tennis courts and four pickleball courts, along with increasing parking by 24 spaces. To address concerns from nearby residents regarding noise and lighting, the applicant agreed to limit court operating hours to 9 p.m. and ensure all lights are turned off at that time. Additionally, shields will be added to existing and proposed light poles to mitigate light bleed into residential areas, and the proposed lighting levels were reduced from 90-foot candles to approximately 44-foot candles, with photometric plans showing no bleed into residential neighborhoods. A neighborhood meeting was held where residents expressed concerns primarily about lighting and noise. The commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval for both the zone change and the SUP. The City Council will make the final decision on July 6th, 2026 for the zone change and July 20th, 2026 for the SUP.
