FSTO Elects New Leadership and Prepares for State and National Delegate Meetings
The Fullerton Secondary Teachers Organization (FSTO) elected new council members, directors, and officers for the 2026-2027 school year. Magdalena Alba was elected president, Amanda Gizer vice president, and Kenneth Eaves treasurer. A vacancy for secretary will be filled in the fall. FSTO delegates will attend CTA state council meetings in Los Angeles and national level meetings in Denver. Members will also attend the CTA summer institute for training.
High School Principals Report on Successful End-of-Year Activities and Student Achievements

Megan Castanada Appointed Director of Special Education
Megan Castanada was officially appointed as the Director of Special Education, removing her interim title. Since 2008, she has demonstrated commitment to inclusive education. She previously served as Special Education Coordinator and Interim Director, managing programs and partnering with staff. Her background includes roles as assistant principal at the Orange County Department of Education, overseeing special education programs, and as an educational specialist and teacher on special assignment, working with students with disabilities and supporting faculty.
Revised 2027-2028 School Year Calendar Approved, Adjusting Start Date
The board reviewed and approved the revised pupil attendance calendar for the 2027-2028 school year. The primary change adjusts the start date to Monday, August 9th, aligning with previous years' calendars and potentially affecting holiday schedules. The revised calendar has been shared with feeder school districts, employee organizations, and staff. It will be posted on the district website upon board approval.
