Franklin Township to Launch 'Hometown Heroes' Banner Project Honoring Veterans
The Human Relations Commission proposed the 'Hometown Heroes' banner flag recognition project to honor local veterans for the 250th anniversary of the United States founding. The project aims to create a lasting tribute by displaying banners of local residents who have served. Similar programs exist in neighboring communities. The banners will transform streets into living tributes and memorials, strengthening community pride and preserving local history. The cost of each banner, including hardware, is approximately $210, with funding typically raised by families and veteran groups, thus incurring no direct cost to the town. The Human Relations Commission will collaborate with the special projects manager on design and communication, with plans to launch the program in the fall, potentially hanging banners by May before Memorial Day.
Township Council Adopts Master Plan and Development Regulation Updates

Franklin Township Acquires Land for Open Space Preservation
The township council approved the acquisition of approximately 4.1 acres of land located at 287 Cedar Grove Lane for open space preservation. The property, known as Block 508.02, Lot 11, was purchased for $5,460,000, funded by the Open Space Trust Fund. This acquisition is intended to prevent development on the land and potentially create a park, contributing to the preservation of natural areas within the township.
