Road Closures Approved for 4-H Fair and Harvard Terrace Parades
The Board of Public Works and Safety approved road closures for two parades: the Clint County 4-H Fair Parade on Sunday, July 12th, starting at 1 p.m., and the Harvard Terrace parade on July 4th, starting at 10 a.m. The police department will manage the necessary road closures with assistance from the street department. For the Harvard Terrace parade, a megaphone will be provided for the mayor.
Payment Ratified for Park Shelter Contract Expenses
The Board of Public Works and Safety ratified a payment of $2,625 to Patrick Beard for out-of-pocket expenses related to a contract for a large shelter at the park. The payment was approved.
Circle Park Bike Race, July 4th Festival, Park Improvements, and Stewardship Agreement Approved
The Board of Public Works and Safety ratified road closures for the Circle Park bike race, which has been rescheduled to June 6th. The road closure details remain the same as originally planned. Additionally, the board approved a contract for the July 4th festival, featuring the bands Jesse Brown Duo and Neon 90s Country Rewind at the park. A fence replacement for the TPA basketball courts was also approved, with a total cost of $18,527.18, partially funded by donations. Finally, an 'Adopt a Park' stewardship agreement for Veterans Park with the VFW was approved for a five-year term, starting May 2026. Under this agreement, the VFW will handle maintenance tasks such as flag replacement, lighting upkeep, irrigation monitoring, seasonal planting, structure upkeep, and litter removal, while the Parks Department will continue to manage events and scheduling.
New Job Descriptions for Building Inspector and Administrator Accepted
The Human Resources department presented two job descriptions for acceptance by the board: one for a part-time building inspector and another for a senior building administrator. Changes have been made to both descriptions. The board accepted the job descriptions as presented.
Part-Time Building Inspector Hired
The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the hiring of Mark Timmons as a part-time building inspector. Timmons has completed all background checks and drug screens. He is a certified building inspector and is approximately seven months under the six-year window for continuing education credits required to reinstate his certification. He started his first day on the job on the day of the meeting.
