Ashlin School Committee Reorganizes, Establishes Math Education Fund, and Appoints to Boards

The school committee reorganized by appointing new officers for the 2627 school year. Mark Terry was appointed as the Chair, Paul Warner as Vice Chair, and Tina as Clerk. Following the reorganization, the committee moved to action items, beginning with the establishment of the Cooper Family Ashlin Math Education Fund, accepting an initial donation of $50,000 from the family to support math teachers with educational supplies, math programming, math clubs, and a scholarship for graduating students pursuing math education careers. The committee also voted to appoint Superintendent Jim Adams to the board of directors for the accept collaborative for the 2627 school year. Additionally, Regulation AD 1.3R2, concerning the assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, and assessment job description, was removed from the policy manual as it was deemed too granular for policy and more administrative in nature. Finally, Tina was appointed to participate in the initial assistant superintendent search process, with interviews scheduled for June 16th and 17th. The superintendent provided updates on both the Director of Student Services search (24 applicants) and the Assistant Superintendent search (54 applicants), outlining the timeline and interview process for both, with a target of bringing candidates before the school committee by June 24th.
