Wood Chip Obstruction Near Monottomy Rocks Park Quickly Cleared
Mrs. Mahan reported an incident where a large load of wood chips was dumped in the middle of the road near Monottomy Rocks Park. She contacted Ms. Wadeen, the Park and Recreation Director, who promptly resolved the issue, clearing the road. Mrs. Mahan expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by Ms. Wadeen.
Arlington Select Board Enters Executive Session for Town Manager Negotiations
The Select Board moved to enter into executive session to conduct a strategy session regarding preparation for negotiations with non-union personnel, specifically Town Manager James Fenley. The session was also intended to conduct contract negotiations with James Fenley. The board resolved not to return to open session for any votes and that the open session would conclude concurrently with the executive session's conclusion or adjournment. The motion passed unanimously.
Eversource Petition for Hemlock Street Pole Installation Approved
Eversource Energy petitioned to install approximately one new pole and relocate two existing poles on Hemlock Street. This work is intended to provide electric service for the Stratton Street improvement project, which is part of the massDOT Safe Routes to School initiative. The Select Board held a public hearing, received public comment (none were raised), and then approved the petition. Mrs. Mahan motioned for approval, citing her appreciation for Eversource's recent responsiveness during a storm outage in Arlington. Mr. Helmouth seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.
Select Board Approves Special Event License for Whitmore Robbins House
The Select Board approved a request for a special 1-day beer and wine license for July 12th, 2026, to be held at the Whitmore Robbins House for a private event. Mrs. Mahan made the motion for approval, which was seconded by Mr. Dorsey. Attorney Cunningham conducted the roll call vote, which resulted in a unanimous approval.
