City Reviews Development Progress, Highlights Key Projects
Staff presented a quarterly development update covering activities from January to the present. The update highlighted plat filings and site plan reviews. Key projects discussed included the Allen Place Business Center (89,000 sq ft warehouse/office space, approved April 17th), Custer 121 Retail (plaza with an awning for pedestrian use, finalized April 17th), High Five at Allen (indoor commercial amusement, under review), and Slums Corners West (first phase of a large development including residential and two commercial structures, one nearing tenant finish-out). Staff also directed attendees to the city's GIS website for information on current and upcoming developments.
Specific Use Permit for Gymnastics Facility Recommended for Approval
The Planning and Zoning Commission considered a request for a specific use permit to authorize a gymnastics or sports training facility. The proposed use is for a 6,500 square foot portion of a building located at 105 West Bethany Drive, Suite 130, identified as Dynamite Performance Golf. The property is zoned light commercial and currently has ample parking, with over 300 spaces available. Staff recommended approval, and the Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval to the City Council, with the next step being a City Council meeting on June 23rd.
