Vallejo City Council Engages in Comprehensive Goal-Setting Workshop

The Vallejo City Council conducted a goal-setting workshop, facilitated by Steve Rommel and Michelle New of Jacob Green and Associates, to establish a unified vision and strategic direction for the city. The workshop involved discussions on effective governance, roles and responsibilities, mission, vision, and values, drawing input from council members, city staff, and a community survey. Key themes emerging included the need for alignment, prioritization of goals, and building trust within the council and with the community. The council also explored potential objectives for economic development, financial and organizational sustainability, public safety, and quality of life, emphasizing the constraints of limited resources and staff capacity. The session highlighted the importance of data-driven decision-making and performance management, with a commitment to returning with refined proposals for goals, objectives, mission, vision, and values for further council consideration. A community feedback portal will also be established.
