True Test Screening Named May 2026 Business of the Month
True Test Screening Incorporated was recognized as the May 2026 business of the month for its services and community involvement. Ken Brzezinski, representing True Test Screening, was acknowledged for his extensive community service, including his roles on the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce Board and the Seven Hills Community Foundation. The proclamation highlighted the company's establishment in 2008 and its continued provision of background screening and drug testing services.
City Council to Consider Changes to Snow Fence Ordinance and Zoning Variance Appeals Process
The Planning, Zoning, and Economic Development committee discussed updating the snow fence ordinance, which is being turned over to the law department for review due to ambiguity in the current ordinance regarding 'any other type' of snow fence. Additionally, a significant discussion and proposed ordinance change would alter the process for zoning variance appeals, moving final decisions from the City Council to the Zoning Board of Appeals, with appeals then going directly to the court system. This change is intended to remove politics from zoning decisions and is planned to be put on the November ballot for resident approval.
Finance Committee Approves Emergency Ordinances for Labor Agreement, Escrow, Road Program, and Tax Levies
The Finance Committee approved several ordinances for immediate placement on the agenda as emergencies, waiving the 24-hour rule. These include approving a collective bargaining agreement for service workers (AFL-CIO CIO) concerning wage negotiations, directing the mayor to enter an escrow agreement with LSB 7 Hills and Omni Title Agency for $125,000, and authorizing an agreement with QCI Services for the 2025 road program and Rockside Road Development. Additionally, a resolution was approved to amend a previous resolution regarding tax levies, specifically to incorporate a fire levy renewal passed on May 5th, 2026, and update the tax rate legislation for the county budget commission.
