City Secures $10,000 Grant for 'Rooted in Rock Springs' Shop Local Campaign
The city accepted and approved a grant agreement with the Wyoming Business Council for $10,000 to fund the 'Rooted in Rock Springs' shop local campaign. Mayor Max Mickelson and City Clerk Matthew El Mcburn are authorized to execute the grant agreement on behalf of the city.
Job Description for Ice Arena Recreation Supervisor Approved
The council approved an updated job description for the position of Recreation Supervisor in the Ice Arena, with the position assigned to paygrade 106. This follows a previous discussion regarding filling a vacant position in Parks and Recreation.
Rezoning of Yellowstone Road Industrial Park Parcel Approved for Trade School Use
The city council discussed amending the official zoning map for a 15.003-acre parcel located in lots 28 and 29 of the Yellowstone Road Industrial Park subdivision. The proposed change is from I2, heavy industrial, to I1, light industrial zoning. This rezoning is necessary to allow for the intended use of a trade school, which is not permitted under the current I2 zoning but is allowed under I1 zoning.
HDR Engineering Inc. Selected for Biosolids Disposal Site Design
The city approved a contract with HDR Engineering Inc. for the complete design of a disposal site. This project is separate from the water reclamation facility and involves designing a location for the disposal of biosolids. Currently, biosolids are taken to the landfill, but the city hopes to find alternative Class A biosolids utilization. The contract is for the design of the disposal site itself, not the detention basin, which is a separate parcel not yet obtained. Only one RFP was put out, with two proposals received.
City Council Approves Budget Revision for Travel and Tourism and International Day Projects
The council authorized a budget revision for the fiscal year ending June 30th. This revision involves receiving and spending funds from the Travel and Tourism board and the Rock Springs International Day Committee for specific projects. Councilmember Hickerson clarified that this is for Travel and Tourism and the Rock Springs International Day Committee, with both entities providing funds. Councilmember Malonus inquired about a $10,000 check for International Days and was informed it was a coincidence due to an annual appropriation and an award, handled as a check exchange for accounting purposes. A discussion also touched upon the Gateway Sign Project, with a councilmember requesting documentation.
