North Logan City Council Approves Property Tax Increase Amidst Budget Deliberations
North Logan City Council held a Truth and Taxation meeting to discuss the proposed interim budget for fiscal year 2026-2027, which includes a property tax increase. The proposed increase aims to generate an additional $139,615, comprising a 7.5% increase for the general fund ($93,812) and a 10.0% increase for the library fund ($45,803). These funds are allocated for competitive salary increases for police retention ($32,318), meeting Logan City Fire Department's contract rate increase ($61,494), and covering new community center utilities and programs ($68,704). The council heard public comment, with residents expressing concerns about the cumulative tax burden and the funding of capital projects. Ultimately, the council approved a resolution (26-11) for the proposed property tax increase for fiscal year 2027.
