Council Approves Request for Speed Bump on Loji Boulevard, DPW to Install Immediately
Luis Torres requested a discussion on a possible speed bump on Loji Boulevard. He presented a petition signed by residents. The council voted to forward the request to the Department of Public Works (DPW) for immediate installation of the speed bump. It was also suggested that Lieutenant Gindon might be able to provide a temporary trailer until the speed bump is installed.
Food Truck and Fireworks Vendor Licenses Approved; One Fireworks Permit Held for Verification
The Town Council considered peddler vendor license applications for mobile food trucks. Applications for Totten Foods LLC DBA Big Dog Eats and Meat Sweats RLC were removed from the agenda due to being continued items or no one being present. The application for The Lemon Bar (1530 Atwood Avenue, Johnston) was approved, with Brian and Sharice Wson present as owners. An application for Keith Lambert of New England Novelty for fireworks sales at 1720 Middle Spring Avenue was also approved. An application for Alex Mutabar of Keystone Novelties Distributors LLC for fireworks sales at two locations (41 Smithfield Road and 1525 Smith Street) was approved pending verification with the property owner regarding the specific location at 41 Smithfield Road.
Class F1 Liquor License Approved for Camp Mian Event
The council approved a Class F1 liquor license for Behind the Bars Mixology for an event at Camp Mian on October 4th, 2026. The motion to approve was made by Councilman Bala and seconded by Councilman Pollock.
Resignation Accepted, New Appointment Made to Historic District Commission
The Town Council accepted the resignation of Joseph Giamako from the Historic District Commission. Councilman Lao made the motion to accept, seconded by Councilman Baloa. The council then appointed Lynn Del Faro to the vacant position on the Historic District Commission. Councilman Pollock made the motion to appoint, seconded by Councilman Lao.
Ordinance Regarding Juvenile Hearing Board Adopted
The council adopted Ordinance 26-008, amending Section 20-249 of the town code of ordinances concerning the juvenile hearing board. The motion to adopt was made by Councilman Bala and seconded by Councilman Dorenzo.
