The Newport City Council approved awarding a construction contract for the Northeast 1st, 2nd, Fogarty, and Grant Streets Paving Project to Road and Driveway Company for $232,899.98. This project, funded by Northside Urban Renewal, aims to pave several gravel roads. Although initial funding was budgeted for the previous fiscal year, it will be carried over. The city received only one bid, which was within $5,000 of the engineer's estimate and deemed a fair price. The project's completion is anticipated by the end of September.
