Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements Near Ledge Street School Approved via Change Order
The finance committee approved change order number one with Sunshine Paving for the 2026 paving program, adding $350,000 for additional sidewalk work and drainage improvements. Funding is from sidewalk and drainage funds, not the paving program budget. The work focuses on Ledge Street near Ledge Street Elementary School, including reconstructing sidewalk ramps, building bump-outs, and addressing drainage issues causing ponding near the playground. This work is being done under Sunshine Paving's existing contract unit prices to expedite completion between school terms.
SCADA System Upgrade for Landfill Lift Pump House Approved
The finance committee approved change order number one with Electrical Installations LLC for installing and programming a new SCADA/telemetry panel on the Phase 4 landfill lift pump house, not to exceed an unspecified amount. Funding is through the solid waste fund and bond 54. This installation will integrate all landfills into a single SCADA system for cloud monitoring, alarms, and notifications to DEQ.
Wastewater Treatment Facility Administration Building to Receive New Drop Ceilings and Lighting
The finance committee approved a contract with Trusted Maintenance Solutions for the installation of drop ceilings in five areas of the wastewater treatment facility's administration building. The project also includes new LED lighting and emergency lights. This work is necessary to replace old, damaged, and obsolete steel ceiling tiles in four areas and to install a drop ceiling in an office area that currently lacks one. Funding is through the wastewater fund for capital outlay improvements.
SWAT Team Upgrades Night Vision Capabilities with New Binoculars
The finance committee approved a contract with Nocturn Industries for four vision binocular night vision binoculars, not to exceed $29,729.91. Funding is from a homeland security grant. The purchase aims to upgrade the SWAT team's night vision capabilities from monocular devices to dual-tube systems. This upgrade addresses limitations like lack of depth perception and eye strain during extended missions, highlighted by a recent manhunt incident. The project involves converting 12 existing monocular systems and purchasing three new, higher-end auto-gain dual-tube systems.
