Park Board Approves CIP Funding for Cullen Nature Preserve and Discusses Phased Park Development
The Park Board discussed the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for 2027-2031, focusing on the Cullen Nature Preserve Parking and Trails project. Funding of $856,000 was allocated for this project, spread from 2027 to 2031, making it active after previously being pending. The board also discussed phasing the park's master plan implementation, with a preference from the Friends of Cullen Nature Preserve for a full build-out before opening, rather than phased implementation. Other CIP discussions included the Ridgedale Commons and park master planning, with some funds being moved to the future. An update on the ADA plan for parks was also provided, with a phased approach of adding $10,000-$15,000 annually to the operating budget starting next year for park accessibility improvements. Additionally, an error on the Shady Oak Beach improvements chart was identified and corrected.
