Marlborough Cricket Community Advocates for Second Pitch and Equipment Access

Anupal Patil, representing the Marlborough cricket community, addressed the council regarding the current insufficient facilities for the growing number of cricket teams in the township. He highlighted the difficulty in booking the single existing cricket pitch, leading teams to seek external locations or face competition from outside teams. Patil requested the council consider approving a proposal for a second cricket pitch to accommodate local demand. Additionally, he raised concerns about the logistics of transporting cricket equipment from parking lots to the pitch and requested permission for a vehicle pass to ease this burden. The council indicated that operational issues would be discussed with the recreation director and capital improvements with relevant staff.

Urgent Call for Traffic Light Installation at Dangerous Intersection Following 25-Year Wait

Eileen Cartwright, on behalf of several neighbors, voiced urgent concerns about the dangerous intersection of Harbor Road, Spring Valley Road, and Tennant Road. She recounted that a traffic light was promised 25 years ago when the Marlborough Early Learning Center (now Abbott) was built, but has yet to be installed, leading to numerous accidents. Cartwright described the intersection as the worst in town, exacerbated by recent development and increased traffic. She inquired about the necessary steps, such as petitions or traffic studies, to expedite the installation of the traffic light, noting that Tennant Road is a county road which complicates coordination. The township engineer reported that the county has acquired one lot, engineering work is funded for this year, and the project is in the county's capital plan for 2027, with police review of plans underway.
