Maplewood City Council Recognizes New Officers, Promotions, and Life-Saving Actions

The City Council Manager Workshop convened on July 13th, featuring a significant public safety segment. This included the swearing-in ceremony for seven new police officers: Officer Podgorski, Morales, Britt, Bauker, Leonard, Alvanez, and Pekarek. Following this, Officer Noah Swatala was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. The event also recognized outstanding service with the Maplewood Police Department Meritorious Service Award presented to Barb Johnson for her extensive community outreach efforts. Finally, life-saving awards were presented to Officers Bourne and Stock for their intervention in a critical bleeding incident, and to Officer Suitkamp for his role in resuscitating an individual from cardiac arrest following an electrocution accident. The ceremony highlighted the department's commitment to service, integrity, and community engagement.
