Maple Grove Police Department Expands Canine and Human Officer Ranks
The Maple Grove Police Department has added two new canine teams and two new human officers to its ranks. Canine Gus, handled by Officer Zach Hanson, graduated from the St. Paul Canine Academy after 16 weeks and was sworn in by Mayor Mark Stephenson. This addition brings the department's canine unit to two fully deployed teams, with the other team being Canine Judd and Officer Tyler Husso. The department also welcomed human officers Fred Mayanga, who brings experience from Dallas, Texas, and Christopher Mann, who was promoted from community service officer. The department is actively recruiting for more officers, aiming for 'bell curve hiring' to maintain full staffing even when vacancies arise.
