Summer Events Calendar Highlights Farmers Market, Cruising into Lockport, Fridays in the Park, and Old Canal Days
The Trackside Farmers Market will operate every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lockport Metro Station, offering local produce, baked goods, and artisan products. Additionally, 'Cruising into Lockport' events will be held every Monday evening at Central Square, featuring live music, food, and a car show, though it will be cancelled on June 15th due to Canal Days. 'Fridays in the Park' will commence this Friday, June 5th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lincoln Landing with live music and family activities. Preparations for Old Canal Days, from June 11th to 14th, are underway, including carnival rides, food, entertainment, fireworks, and a new drone show on June 11th.
IDOT Begins 159th Street Resurfacing Project
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has commenced a resurfacing project on 159th Street between Robinson Drive and Edelman Drive. The project includes roadway resurfacing, a new pedestrian signal and crosswalk at Edelman Drive, and curb/gutter rehabilitation, with completion anticipated by the end of summer.
Lockport Announces Annual Property Beautification Contest
The city is launching its annual spring and summer property beautification contest, encouraging residents to nominate neighbors for their outstanding curb appeal, decorations, and property maintenance. Winners will be recognized at the August 19th City Council meeting, with prizes including gift certificates.
