Mayor's Weekly Update Highlights Community Events, Federal Engagement, and Local Programs

The Mayor highlighted the "Drinks in the Driveway" neighborhood outreach program, thanking participating neighborhoods and looking forward to upcoming events. She also thanked Congressman Adam Smith for his visit, mentioning discussions on flooding impacts from a December storm and the acceptance of EBT/SNAP for fresh produce, as well as a meeting with local space companies to discuss support for startups and research and development in the space industry in Kent. The NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways were highlighted as a significant annual event. Finally, a new event for students, "Soils, Seeds, and Stories," a day camp at the Greater Kent Historical Society focusing on local agricultural history, was announced, with scholarships available thanks to grants from Foriculture.
